Flowers Express is an online flower shop based in London, they sell a variety of flowers and gifts within the UK. They contacted me to help improve their website visibility on search engines with a view to increase sales.
Search Engine Optimisation
To help improve the visibility of Flowers Express I needed to do a complete website analysis to see what areas of the site were under-performing. The biggest issue affecting the website was the lack of text and headings on pages. There were very few keywords relevant to the page being viewed and most of the existing content needed to be rewritten and extended.
Every month I would review the website with the client. Every month both myself and the client received a Google Analytics report so we could see week on week how the site was performing. Every few months we would review the website content and make amendments to the on-page SEO to help improve the ranking of website in search engines.
Website redesign
After working with the website for a number of months it was agreed that the website should be redesigned to help improve visitor engagement. I redesigned the header and created a number of promotional banners for the website. Since these changes were introduced we saw that visitors would stay on the site longer and view more pages before making their flower purchases.
WordPress Development
When I took on this project the website was powered by an out-dated version of WordPress. Some of the plugins used on the site needed to be replaced to work with the latest WordPress version. I recoded aspects of the theme to help reduce duplicate content, and speed up website load times. Through optimising the WordPress theme I was able to make the site load 3-4 seconds quicker.
I restructured the website and added a section for flower delivery to help improve the websites visibility in search engines for “Flower Delivery” related searches.
