On the 21st June 2012 I will be upgrading my web hosting server to give my customers more flexibility, security and availability for their websites. The new server will have more memory (RAM), additional storage space and quicker website load times. I am happy to report that during the last 12 months my hosting services has received 15 minutes of downtime, and this was due to scheduled maintenance of the server. If you would like to know more about this then please contact me.
Why am I upgrading my hosting servers?
1. Increased security
The security of the websites I host is has always been my primary concern, so the additional security measures being put in place are there to benefit and protect any website that is hosted on my server. There have been significant improvements made to the firewall that sits between the Internet and the servers that store your website.
2. Increased memory
I’ve increased the memory in the servers that host your websites. The more memory each server has, the faster your website will become. Most people will return to the search engine results page if your website doesn’t load within 3 – 5 seconds so its important your website is fast and reliable. The code that makes up your website can be changed to help improve website performance – if this is something you’re interested in please have a read of my website development services and get in contact if you would like a website development review.
3. Increased storage
The new servers have double the amount of storage space, which means that I can allocate more storage space to my website hosting packages.
Will there be any downtime?
Yes there will be some downtime, but I am planning a phased migration of all websites from the old server to the new server to try and minimize downtime. I will arrange a suitable date and time to start the migration process, and you can expect your website to experience up to 24 hours of downtime.
